"Writing on the Bean" -- Addison 8th grade English
classes joined High School science students and watershed volunteers
in a stream search for aquatic macroinvertebrates on October 3, 2003, in Bean
Creek at Smith Park, Addison.
Students wrote short pieces about the aquatic insects -- some will be published
in the Brooklyn Exponent; all of the writings are posted on the website here.
In spring 2004, all participating students will receive a pocket-size folding map of Bean Creek and its public parks. This EPA Environmental Education grant will also fund donations to Addison Schools of kick nets, ground cloth, magnifying glasses, tweezers, and a set of macroinvertebrate flash cards.
